2014 was a wonderful year of growth and learning. I photographed many weddings, couples, and graduating seniors. I traveled to Houston, Dallas and San Antonio to photograph weddings. I attended my first workshop. I worked alongside a handful of talented photographers. Many of this year's weddings I second shot for the always awesome Benjamin Garrett Photography. I learned that it's okay to use flash and often times necessary. I learned that when the DJ plays "Teach Me How to Dougie" you discover who the best dancers are at the wedding. I learned that it's okay to tear up during the emotional parts. I learned to appreciate the pure joy on a bride's face when she puts her dress on for the first time and sees how beautiful she is. I learned that I'm a sucker for pretty cakes and bouquets. Here are some of my favorite wedding images from the year:
Haley and Jordan play the lead roles, Rae and Carter, in the upcoming film Her Story. We went out to one of my favorite parks along with the director and producer to shoot a few promotional photos for the film. As soon as we got there we noticed dark billowing clouds in the sky so we tried to shoot as quickly as we could. Towards the end of the shoot it started to rain but we just kept going. The last photo of Haley is her dancing in the rain.
Devan and Blake's wedding was an intimate and charming celebration. I loved the little details such as the parasols and the sprinkles of sunflowers and lights. Their venue's wood interior matched perfectly with the wedding's rustic country style. Their close friends and family served as their wedding party. Blake's ridiculously cute daughter Addison was their flower girl, his brother Payne was his best man and Devan's friend Nour was her maid of honor. Devan and Blake are such a lovely and laid back couple and I could see by the way that they looked at each other that it was just meant to be. That they would always be there for one another. After enduring a few years of long distance dating I think these two are thrilled to start their life together -- in the same state and the same city.

My friend Shane is funny, intelligent and a talented writer. He graduated from UT with a BA in English. Shane is currently in China, being awesome, and interning for a law firm. When he returns he'll be attending George Washington University Law School in the fall. I know this guy is going to do great things!
Stacey is my best friend's best friend, so by association she's basically my best friend too. When Stacey told me she was pregnant, I was excited for this new chapter in her life and I really wanted to give her and Michael special photos that would help them remember this time and cherish it. First of all, the love between Stacey and Michael is immediately apparent by the way they interact with each other. Their love is enough to make them wonderful parents but they've also had practice with their first baby, their dog Bella. I look forward to shooting more maternity photos later as Stacey progresses in her pregnancy! And I can't wait to see their little family grow :)
