Back in the spring when Stacey found out she was pregnant, I photographed a pregnancy announcement for her and her husband Michael. Now that she's further along and actually showing she wanted some maternity photos with her cute belly. We thought that East Beach at sunset would be the perfect setting and it was a great choice. Just a few more weeks and their baby boy will be here!
My friend Lauren stopped in Austin for a few days on her way to move to Los Angeles. While here she wanted to snap some senior portraits in iconic Austin locations to commemorate her time as an undergrad in this wonderful city. Lauren is a super sweet, fun and driven person chasing after an LA dream. During our session she started feeding a campus squirrel and the squirrels are so used to this that they will get really close and grab the food straight from your hands. They even pose for photos sometimes. Talking with Lauren about her future plans inspired me and made me feel proud of her and all our fellow alumni. Every senior or recent graduate I've talked with has big aspirations for themselves and the ambition to make it happen. That's why I love senior portrait sessions at my alma mater.
Haley and Jordan play the lead roles, Rae and Carter, in the upcoming film Her Story. We went out to one of my favorite parks along with the director and producer to shoot a few promotional photos for the film. As soon as we got there we noticed dark billowing clouds in the sky so we tried to shoot as quickly as we could. Towards the end of the shoot it started to rain but we just kept going. The last photo of Haley is her dancing in the rain.
Devan and Blake's wedding was an intimate and charming celebration. I loved the little details such as the parasols and the sprinkles of sunflowers and lights. Their venue's wood interior matched perfectly with the wedding's rustic country style. Their close friends and family served as their wedding party. Blake's ridiculously cute daughter Addison was their flower girl, his brother Payne was his best man and Devan's friend Nour was her maid of honor. Devan and Blake are such a lovely and laid back couple and I could see by the way that they looked at each other that it was just meant to be. That they would always be there for one another. After enduring a few years of long distance dating I think these two are thrilled to start their life together -- in the same state and the same city.

Lately my wanderlust has been getting out of control. I'll find myself randomly browsing airbnb, thinking of possible trips I could plan. It's probably because I follow far too many people on instagram who live in more scenic and mountainous states. I had been craving a change of scenery to take photos in. Luckily my family goes on vacation every summer and this year we had planned to go to Mexico. So I packed my camera and three lenses into my awesome leather ONA bag (pictured below) and I was determined to make photos during my trip. It was exactly what I needed. Our phones were turned off, we had no access to internet, we ate chili and limon on everything, we had dinner by the ocean, and we swam every single day. We completely enjoyed ourselves. Although I didn't get as many pictures as I hoped to (it was difficult with wanting to be extra careful not to get my gear wet) I was very happy to shoot in a different setting than normal. I still feel the need to travel more though :)
Samantha personifies the UT motto "what starts here changes the world." She has always impressed me with her ambition and intelligence and she is very passionate about the Middle East. Samantha graduated with a BA in Government and Arabic and is moving to Washington D.C. for work. Although she will be changing the world up in D.C. a Texas girl is always a Texas girl at heart!
